Red Rain
Red Rain is an incredible book by the exceptional and talented author Caitlyn Fournier and wow what a stellar book! Red Rain is a book I was keen to read ever since discovering it. Red Rain is one of the most well written and well-developed stories I have ever come across, and I genuinely mean this. It is the sad truth that many young adult/ middle-grade books are not written to a high standard, and I understand why some authors may write their book this way because after all, young adults mostly want a fast-paced story, however, this is not always the best option. The reader will most likely enjoy the story however they won’t remember it. Personally, I look for books which I will remember and want to re-read, and Red Rain is that book. Red Rain is an expertly written book with a story that is well developed and memorable and a story that I guarantee readers with love thanks to its fast-paced but engaging narrative and the sensational story that unfolds.
Red Rain is a terrifying but gripping tale that will shock and entice readers from start to finish. The reader will be introduced to the 12-year-old protagonist of the novel Beau. Beau is not having an easy childhood, he is bullied because he was born with albinism and he has a scar around his life eye. This leads Beau to be an outcast and so he resorts to entertaining himself with fantasy books to entertain him. However, one day something troubling happens to Beau, he sees a young boy in the rain but this boy did not look normal, instead, he has blood red eyes and he is hungry… what follows is next is a thrilling journey that will excite but frighten readers and is a novel that should not be missed.
The story of Red Rain is a thrilling one thanks to the enthralling and action-packed moments as well as the unpredictable nature of the book that will have the readers turning the pages with haste from beginning to end. I love young adult books that involve a journey because usually in these stories the character develops and grows as they overcome events and battles which in turn adds to the development of the character and explores life lessons throughout the book and that is most certainly the case with Red Rain.
Caitlyn Fournier is an incredible writer who knows how to capture young readers attention from the start. Fournier does this by placing the reader in the thick of the drama straight away with no long build up. The reader will be thrust into the story and because the reader experiences this so fast they will be hooked and captivated to read until the very end. Fournier manages to ensure that her readers are entertained from beginning to end, and she does this by weaving twists and turns throughout her book as well as many jaw-dropping moments that will fascinate as well as excite young readers.
Fournier is an incredibly talented author who clearly knows how to write unique but engaging stories. It was evident to me from the start that Fournier is a passionate writer who surely loves entertaining readers with her literature. I loved this about the author but what I loved the most about Fournier’s writing is her remarkable descriptions because they genuinely amazed me. Fantasy novels, in general, are difficult to write because you have to transport the reader quickly and effortlessly, but sadly this is rarely accomplished in a fantasy story but not with Red Rain. Red Rain is the way it is because Fournier knows what she is doing! Fournier knows how to whisk her readers away to a fantasy land and entice them with magnificent descriptions and keep readers entertained from start to finish!
Overall Red Rain is a marvelous, stellar and supreme book that will entertain, delight as well as charm young readers and so I, of course, have to award this book five stars! - Aimee Ann
